But, pursuant to that impulse that makes people watch anything on TV other than the news, perhaps my little concerns can provide some diversion. The good news is that it's my grandson Angelbaby's birthday. Birthday # 13! He has entered the world of the neoteen, in the footsteps of his brother.
On other fronts, there's good news and there's bad news. The good news is that I think I've finished the edits on my WIP. The first draft edits, anyway. The next steps are getting a friend or two to read it, and contacting an agent. My plan was to get in touch with the agent I worked with on my last book . . . some time ago now. I had tried to contact her a couple of times and not had a reply. I was pretty sure she'd retired, but thought I might get a recommendation from her. Well, I can now report that I am three for three. I've had three agents, and they're all DEAD. I would say "ha ha" but I think that might be inappropriate under the circumstances. I guess I'll be starting from zero.
In its current form, the book is almost exactly 118,000 words. Interesting because around 120,000 words seems to be a comfortable length for me. Several other works have topped out at that length. It's too long by the standards of many editors. I have another WIP that will be much longer than that, unless I can figure out a way to cut it in half. A good way has not yet presented itself, but maybe it will.
