Profile

I lived on a mountain in Idaho for three summers when I was very young, and in my mind, this is still the way things should be. I have been in exile ever since, or perhaps I was in exile even at that time, but I don't remember. I am now in exile from many other things, including the sixties and The Dream That Will Not Die. I write science fiction, which seems appropriate under the circumstances. I am or have been a black belt in tae kwon do, president of the garden club, a Girl Scout leader, volunteer tutor, editor of scholarly books, chair of a food coop, chief cook and bottle washer of a communal guesthouse, a very early member of the Tolkien Society, mother of four, grandmother of three, and many other things I may choose to disavow or disremember. I adore STARGATE:SG-1 (still!) with a hopeless, fatal passion. I would so like to dial home . . . if only I could remember where that Gate is buried . . . .

And for those of you who know what "ismo" means, I am touching the third finger of my left hand to my chin at this very moment. As John Verney, author of the novel by that name put it, " . . . a movement this time not of Despair, but of Hope." Integer Surgo Meliore Omine.
