Not the best of days. The snow is back, but that in itself isn't so bad. A very kind neighbor snowblowered our front walk and part of the driveway, may the odds be ever in his favor! The sun came out for a time and shone brightly on the fresh snow. Then the clouds came back and it was gloomy and cold again. I didn't make it outside this time.

I spent at least an hour and a half signing up for Social Security. (The first time I filled out the form, I hit "next" at the bottom of the final page, and it ate the whole thing, and I had to start over.) This sent me into a funk for various reasons, including viewing my "earnings record" and realizing how long it's been since I actually made any money. Sir! How dare you imply that I am a nobody! I'll have you know that I'm a RETIRED nobody!

My call to my mother was disturbing. She only answered after several attempts because the helper was in the room and handed her the phone. She couldn't hear anything I said. She was clearly disoriented. It was one of those conversations that are like talking to someone in their sleep, and I couldn't ask for clarification because she couldn't hear me. I foresee a time when I will have to stop doing this. I'm just not sure exactly when it will be. And you know how much I love uncertainty.

I was worried about a friend who is having certain symptoms. I looked them up to see what the deal was, and discovered another unfortunate possible condition. And guess what, this too can be a result of Parkinson's. It seems as if almost every day I learn of some new possible torment. See above, my love of uncertainty.

I was about ready to toss the whole day in the trash. Instead, I decided to order a new e-book and have some blackberry-vanilla Haagen-Dasz. Go out on a high note. And so to bed . . . .
