Fledgling of Bluster
Mar. 15th, 2019 09:43 pmWe never did get that balmy 60 degree day we were promised at one point. Yesterday, there was a small tornado--fortunately well east of here, and no one was injured although it did strew some wreckage--and today, the weather people predicted "horizontal rain followed by horizontal snow." That was just about exactly what happened. I went out to the UU women's lunch and enjoyed seeing some of my favorite people from church. On the way home, it was pelting rain, and then, very suddenly, just as I crossed a road, it turned to snow. I don't think it will stick, though. And the exciting part is that the rain has finally melted away enough of the snowbanks that I can see daffodils coming up all over the place! It beats me how they know the time has come, even under all that snow.
I obtained patching materials and patched three pairs of jeans. I'm hard on my pants. I don't know how long the patches will last, but even if I get a few more wash cycles out of them, it's worth it. I made a little collage card for the minister, for the committee to sign. Due to a rare condition that required some very serious surgery, she lost a tremendous amount of weight, and her robes don't fit. She bought herself a new everyday black one, but the committee is going to surprise her with a nice white one suitable for weddings and such. I was tasked with getting her a card, but I really had to make it myself. Hallmark doesn't provide an adequate sentiment. The Sparrowhawk made beer-battered fried perch for dinner, and I squeezed lemon juice all over it, and it was delicious. And that's all I've got at the moment.
