Porcupine of Trill
Mar. 31st, 2019 10:06 pmLast night, we attended a fundraiser for the Sparrowhawk's gym, which is a special gym with a program designed for people with Parkinson's. His Coach put together a murder mystery dinner, and played the role of one of the suspects. I had never attended something like that before, so it was mildly interesting. I suppose everyone else in the world knows what it is, but I didn't. Basically, it's a packaged scenario where actors portraying murder suspects follow a script and answer questions from the groups at each table. Your group discusses the clues and evidence, and tries to guess which suspect is guilty. Our table was sure we knew the answer, but we guessed wrong! To be fair, I think they left out some clues, and one of our suspects lied when she wasn't supposed to. It's a way of making strangers have "fun" together. I think it's a thing that extroverts would enjoy more than I did. The "dinner" was poor quality pizza that was good and cold by the time we got any. Fortunately, there wasn't very much of it, so it didn't upset my stomach. ("The food was terrible! And such small portions!") Our group didn't miss out on much by guessing wrong. The winning team was rewarded with a basket of really boring snack foods that I would not have wanted to eat anyway. Dear me--I'm making this sound terrible, but it wasn't that bad. The Sparrowhawk really wanted to support the gym, and he really wanted me to meet Coach, who has been teasing him that I don't actually exist, so I was willing to go there.
I didn't sleep as long as I wanted to, and I was forced to get up before dawn. But I got to see the waning crescent moon looking very far away to the east, followed by a beautiful sunrise in slate blue followed by celadon and then pink and gold. After that, the day turned cold and blustery, and eventually there was a thin sprinkle of SNOW. I had to take a nap later, and when I woke up, sunlight was streaming through the house, just before the sun set. I did not go to church, and I didn't take a walk, either--except to run through the back yard in my bare feet, on a whim, to survey my spring bulbs sprouting. Brr, it was cold out there. I returned with my feet all numb and muddy. I think I'm starting to feel better. Cautiously optimistic.
