Back again. Tired. And I've now been yelled at on the phone by all three of the siblings. Though, to be fair to Queenie, she wasn't yelling at ME so much as she was venting about things related to Mother's care in general, but she was quite mad and there was a lot of it. When I saw Mr. Science and the Duchess in person, I realized what I had suspected was true: they actually have no memory of having yelled at me last week. They have emotional meltdowns in which they don't really know what they're saying. In truth, the most stressful thing about this is not anything related to my mother. I can deal with that. The worst thing is the constant drama and worry of my siblings.

So we attended the death doula panel discussion. I can't describe it with any brevity. It's just hilarious in a way to be back in Ann Arbor and seeing so many familiar types--a whole roomful of them. The meeting was held in an old house. As soon as I entered, my eyes watered and I started coughing, but I suppressed it with a throat lozenge. Mr. Science started coughing and sneezing so badly that he had to exit the room and observe from the doorway. There was something intensely allergen-producing in that space. The session was geared more to people who wanted to become death doulas and start their own businesses, but we got some idea of what kinds of things they might provide. To my surprise, Mr. Science and the Duchess feel positive about it and plan to proceed with a consultation. If they can find someone the Duchess will trust to take over being with Mother a couple of times a week, I'm in favor of it, I suppose.

Good things that happened: We stayed at the Duchess's house on Saturday and it was really nice. We saw hummingbirds and orioles, and woke up to the eccentric and unique call of the sandhill cranes. Last night, we stayed at Deb's and that was even more enjoyable. We got to eat simple, good food with the Duchess and simple, extra delicious food with Deb, so my stomach is in good shape for a change. I even survived the homemade limoncello, which was very extra delicious. Mr. Science, the Sparrowhawk and I took Mother for walks outside in her wheelchair Saturday and Sunday. We visited the cutting garden and picked a bunch of flowers, and walked to the pond and watched the geese and swallows. Today it was too cold and windy.

I managed to limp out for a walk after we got home. Things that I smelled: apple blossom, lily of the valley, honeysuckle.
