I've been having large helpings of Don't Want To and Don't Care lately. As well as erratic fits of cosmic melancholy, crappy nights of frequent waking, and random aches and pains. Several small projects I theoretically wanted to do haven't been done because when the time came to do them, I couldn't muster the wherewithal. I have tried to keep up with this and that when possible, but it doesn't amount to much. Saturday night, we had dinner with our DB friends. This was good because we haven't seen them all summer. Also, the food offered by the host was pulled pork with a potato bar for the non-meat eaters. Not a quinoa in sight! I brought a fruit salad that turned out to be very delicious, and we had some left over. So I didn't get a tummy ache, and we've been eating fruit salad for breakfast. However, most of us were exhausted for one reason or another, and one left in tears because the pain from her messed-up knee surgery and following staph infection got away from her.

We went to church on Sunday. It made me tired. We tried to take a nap, but it didn't work for me. The Sparrowhawk fell asleep, but I couldn't. Today we went to the bookstore and had coffee while I wrote in my notebook and the Sparrowhawk read things on his iPad. When we got home, I was very tired and achy again. My Fitbit is dead. I didn't want to go for a walk anyway. It's too hot and damp again. I disassembled a chicken and made broth, cut up the remaining peaches, and sorted out a basket where I keep my pants in the closet. It was getting out of hand and was full of things that didn't belong there. I'm happy to report that all the pants that are still in there actually fit me. And that's pretty much all the news at the moment.

At the bookstore, we saw a lovely book: The Lost Words. The book had its inception when the Oxford dictionary for children "dropped around fifty words related to nature — words like fern, willow, and starling — in favor of terms like broadband and cut and paste." The author and illustrator decided to celebrate some of those words in their own book--a very magical and beautiful book that I hope to buy soon.
