SilverLinden of Leave
Sep. 16th, 2019 10:27 pmI had to go to the store this morning to pick up medication for yet another annoying condition, and while I was there I bought toothpaste, milk, strawberries, pork chops, and yogurt. As one does. I also bought a couple more cards--one for a birth and one for a death. Then I made myself go out for a walk. The fields of flowers are mostly done now, gone to dry brown seedpods. Flights of finches decorate them now, instead of flowers, scattering like petals in flight. On the way home, I saw one perfect goldfinch lying on the sidewalk, dead. I don't know why God saw fit to bestow a dead bird on me. It's not as if I need a lesson in mortality. Summer's lease hath all too short a date.
We met one of Timothy's old friends from high school for supper. She had a lot to talk about, and I put forth my best effort at sociability. It was a restaurant, so I also tried to eat something: soup and half a sandwich. Ugh, it was too much, and the day all together was maybe overdoing it as well. Now I'm really uncomfortable again--we're distracting ourselves by watching the special features from the LotR DVDs, the appendices as you might say. They're really interesting and fun, but I'm looking forward to going to bed.
