TundraVole of Shadow
Oct. 25th, 2019 09:34 pmQuite a day. I carried several more large storage tubs full of extra bedding, sweaters and blankets, and the like, upstairs to the spare bedroom to make space in the laundry room. The Sparrowhawk had already moved the spare dishes and glassware upstairs and put them on the dining room table. Then we took everything remaining off the shelves in the laundry room and moved the shelves and put the stuff back on them, and moved the workbench and another smaller set of shelves. So now everything in there is compliant with the waterproofers' requirement for a five-foot clear space by the exterior walls. Then we started on the finished half of the basement. I unloaded all the books off three bookshelves, moved the shelves, and put the books back. The Sparrowhawk disconnected all the electronics and moved the heavy shelf they were sitting on, and vacuumed all around the walls. Tomorrow we have to move the futon couch, the bed, the elliptical machine, and the Sparrowhawk's desk, filing cabinet, and bookshelf. It's like a jigsaw puzzle, or like one of those magic square puzzles where you have to move all the squares around into the proper order. I THINK we can do it . . . . But boyoboy am I tired.
Luckily, we didn't have to cook dinner. Tonight was Fork Fest, a festivity where the nearby greenhouse opens their space to lots of local food and drink vendors. You buy a ticket and then sample an endless variety of small bites of locally produced food. It's very tasty. My favorite things I tasted were smoked pork hocks and white beans, and whitefish chowder. The Sparrowhawk preferred the pulled pork and polenta. And the Polish Falcon from Long Road Distillers. And then, of course, there were the desserts. Tiramisu. Chocolate. Pear sorbet. Turkish Coffee ice cream. Mmmm . . . . Plus plants everywhere, and a very good quality bluegrass band. It's a fun event. We walked over there and back. Parking is a bit of a nightmare, and besides, it's a nice walk. The sky was a lovely shade of purple as we walked home, with long cloud trails of smoky pink and grey in the western sky. Then it was sitting down time for sure. We watched the women's short program from SkateAmerica.
