RimeGlaze of Celeste
Jan. 19th, 2020 08:53 pmSpoiler alert: it's pretty much nothing but snow shoveling. This morning I glanced out the window and saw that all the areas I cleared yesterday had been lavishly covered over with another layer of pristine white. I was a little bit sore from yesterday, but ready to plunge out there and hand winter another defeat. However, it came to my attention that it was still snowing. And snowing. I figured there was no point in doing the work until the snow actually stopped. So I sulked comfortably in my pajamas until after noon, drinking tea and texting with the Sparrowhawk. Finally I put on some clothes and my old sweater and jacket, and started shoveling, with some complaints from my body along the lines of oh for god's sake, this AGAIN? Luckily, this snow was light and fluffy, and my nice neighbor was out snow blowering his driveway, and came over and did my front walk and the end of the drive which is always the worst part. That was super helpful!
I'd had some thoughts of attending a gallery opening for the faculty art show at a local college, but when the time came, I had just finished digging out my car and hadn't had a shower yet, and I had no confidence the parking lots would be plowed. I decided to lurk instead. And then had an episode of panic when I couldn't find my phone, which I had been carrying in my jacket pocket. I remembered taking it out for a moment, to shake snow out of the pocket. I was afraid it had fallen into a snowdrift. I poked at some drifts and eventually found the phone under the car and still in working order. Whew.
I chatted with a friend, got texts from Queenie, and a call from the Diva. I considered going out for a walk, but it was 25 with a feel of 16. I figured I'd done my duty already, and stayed inside. I answered a letter from Mr. Science, texted with Tron, and fixed myself something to eat. I don't seem to be getting a lot of projects done, but I have shoveled a lot of snow.
