Everything is canceled around here. I postponed my therapy appointment and put off my haircut indefinitely. I had an appointment for part 2 of my deep cleaning at the dentist today, but yesterday, the governor requested that clinics and dentists' offices avoid optional procedures for the duration. I called this morning to ask if the office was still open, and they said they were about to call me to see if I wanted to postpone my procedure. They put it off till the end of April. I wonder now if that will be long enough. I'm spending far too much time obsessing over news. There really isn't much that is new. It's the uncertainty that is daunting. I look for some fragment of certainty to make me feel more grounded, but there really is nothing. We just have to wait and see what happens.

We keep in touch with the kids from time to time. They are all fine so far. The Nipper's job has been deemed "essential," so he has to keep working, but the Redhead is able to work from home, so she can be with Raptor, whose school has closed. The Diva's school is closed, too, but they are operating a feeding station, so she'll be there handing out lunches for kids to pick up. I wish I could help, but it seems that the best thing we can do right now is avoid getting sick. This seems awfully self-centered, but that's the deal right now.

I went for a walk, since that's about the only place I can go! My hellebores seem to have survived the winter. My jack in the pulpit and trillium haven't started to come up yet. Willow tree buds are coming along. The soft tips of the buds are beginning to show beneath the scales that cover them. Spring is like a viral attack in that its first approach seems distant and dilatory, but it will arrive suddenly in a great rush.

It's always a nice day when I crack open a new bar of soap. Today I opened the last of my Provence Sante Tilleul soap--a/k/a Linden Flower. I checked into my soap supply just to be sure, and found that yes, I have two bars of Great Lakes themed soap I was saving for gifts--Beach Night and Driftwood--and two bars of soap scenting a drawer--lavender and citrus--plus a giant bar of Duke Cannon Heavy Duty Hand Soap with pumice. It's harsh, but the Sparrowhawk likes it, and if that don't clean you, nothing will! It would be a powerful virus that could defy Duke Cannon and his pumice platoon. We also have a large bottle of Badedas, which would work quite well for hand cleaning. So I was right to leave the liquid soap in the store for others more needy. I decided that it would be a good time to listen to more of our LPs, to keep me from watching too much news. The funny thing is, I was changing the record and realized I'd forgotten that vinyl has two sides! I was treating it like a CD.
