Rosemary of Trill
Apr. 6th, 2020 10:07 pmThe day started off well, with a lovely FaceTime with the Diva. She was sitting on her patio with green leaves behind her, and looked like a painting. "Diva in the Garden," possibly by Degas if I'd taken my glasses off. She's trying to create one of those sourdough starters that are all the rage these days. Tron texted us too. And late this evening, the Nipper sent us a video of Raptor singing "The Healthy Eating Song." I've had an email exchange with my siblings. So it seems my family are all well.
Then I strained off the chicken broth that had been simmering, and made chicken salad with the meat, and we had some for lunch. We sat on the back porch for awhile. There was sun in the morning, and then the clouds drifted over, and it wasn't quite as sunny and warm as yesterday, but still pleasant. Then the Sparrowhawk needed to close his eyes for a bit, and I was getting chilly, so we went inside. I worked on my story for awhile. Then things took a downturn. The Sparrowhawk had been planning to make stir fry for dinner, but had to admit he was just too tired. We had plenty of leftovers, so that wasn't a problem. But it just set off some anxiety about things in general.
We watched "The Windermere Children." It was very interesting, because the beautiful setting in the Lake Country was the same as in the sunlit children's books we've been reading. But the characters were Polish and Jewish young people who had come there via Buchenwald and other horrors. They'd been brought there to recuperate and learn to navigate the world again. The contrast was stark. It was a little too much for me. After that, we had to take refuge in season 5 of the Great British Bake-Off. Now, if only we had some CAKE we'd be quite cheerful again. The Diva and I agreed that quarantine baking is definitely the best stress control method.
