Huckleberry of Bliss
Apr. 8th, 2020 10:46 pmAnd with the full moon, we're in the phase of Bliss. It's my favorite, but until the last couple of days, I would not have believed that it would make any sense to call this season Bliss. Yesterday and today were such nice weather that I started to believe it possible. This morning's big project was packing up the kids' Easter packages. It's our custom to send them candy. It wasn't very fancy this year--just what I threw into my cart on the first supply run at did at the very beginning of this madness. But there was a little something for everyone, and I had boxes, pretty colored tissue paper, and strapping tape on hand. I also finally packed up and sent off the autographed poetry book I got for my brother's child. Their birthday is next week, so that's convenient. I can pretend I meant to do that . . . . The Sparrowhawk took them to the post office, using the proper precautions. The post office staff are using various precautions, basically similar to a pharmacy. I always say to myself, "Now, why didn't you just get this done earlier!" Then I start doing it, and I realize why--it's because it's a fiddly job that takes much longer than I think it will! However, it's done now.
Then I made another batch of bread. I have quite a bit of whole wheat flour, so I just made it pure whole wheat, except for a handful of unbleached white that I threw in while I was kneading it. Normally I use about half and half, plus some oatmeal, wheat germ or cracked wheat, depending on what I've got. I still have a good amount of unbleached white flour too, but the whole wheat is less versatile, so it seems better to use more of it in the bread. It didn't rise as much as I wanted it to, but it smelled divine while it was baking.
In honor of another sunny day, I put on a blue and white sun dress and my bluejay feather earrings. I'm trying to add a note of cheer by changing things up and wearing all my clothes. I have a strong tendency to wear the same pants and t-shirt for days on end. Not that there's anything wrong with that. . . but it gets kind of boring eventually. And I need color in my life. We sat out on the back porch while I worked on my story. It's over 5000 words now. We were there for a couple of hours. Toward the end of our time, I felt a cold breath of air sigh across the trees, and the clouds began to gather quite rapidly. By the time I took the bread out, the sky was completely grey and the temperature was dropping. I thought I'd just go for a quick walk, but I had only gone half a block when it started to drizzle. So no walk today. For dinner, I had leftover Chinese food, and the Sparrowhawk had new bread and cheese and chicken salad from yesterday.
