IrisPetal of Bloom
May. 23rd, 2020 10:10 pmThis was the big day! Muffinhead is now a high school graduate, and Angelbaby is 16 years old. We called Angelbaby and sang him the birthday song, and he very nicely thanked us for his gift and said he'd had a good day in spite of the current situation. His Mom, the Diva, sent us a picture of a delicious cookie cake she had baked for him. We're promised some shots of Muffinhead in his robe and hat, as soon as they get around to taking pictures. it's bittersweet. I wish we could have been there. I also wish the boys were coming of age in better times. But it is what it is. I have great hope and faith in their ability to find a good path in spite of all.
We went to visit the Pomona Tree II this morning. Pomona Tree I stands on a trail up by Sleeping Bear, and has often given us juicy wild apples on a hot summer day. Pomona Tree II is also a beautiful tree, very old and big for an apple tree, and it also has delicious fruit, but it lives in a park nearby. The blossoms were still on the tree, but petals fluttered down on the wind. We walked on around the park. We tried to sing "The Lusty Month of May," and made a merry hash of it. Then we listened to it on his phone to see how it was supposed to sound. He mowed the lawn, and I weeded grass out of my tender little bergamot and fennel plants so he could see where they were and not cut them down by accident.
Me: "Oh, look, a bun-bun nibbling on a grass blade! SO CUTE!"
Also me: "Do NOT hop over and eat my lilies or I WILL END YOU!"
