Dandelion of Zenith
Jun. 15th, 2020 10:26 pmA couple of weeks ago, I recounted how we met up with someone we used to know many years ago, who was here to "visit" her mother in a local nursing home. Last week, the botanical gardens opened again, and we suggested that she might like to go there as our guest, since we have a membership. Last night, she texted to suggest that we go today, because it will get hotter as the week goes on. Today was really the perfect day to stroll around the Japanese Garden. We met her at 11:30. That was fine, but I got up kind of late, and going at 11:30 meant I forgot to eat breakfast etc. She needed to borrow a hat, so I stuffed an assortment into my bag, along with other necessary items like a bottle of water plus a clean glass in a ziploc bag so she could have a drink unpolluted by potential germs from us. Also, separate snacks of trail mix and oranges, likewise in separate ziploc bags. I'm either a mom or a survivalist--maybe both. In either case, I seem to be compelled to provide for as many contingencies as I can think of. We had to take masks, too, for walking through the building to the gardens.
We were walking around for a couple or three hours, looking at the giant horse sculpture, the bonsai garden, the conservatory with its carnivorous plants and orchids, and lots of other beautiful things. However, strolling with talkative people I don't know very well is quite exhausting, and I was beat when we got home. I got a sandwich and a cup of tea, put on some Mozart, flopped on the couch, and felt somewhat better. I even got a little writing done. But I'm still not in very good shape. My stomach is still bothering me quite a lot. Queenie tried to call me today, but her phone wasn't working and we got cut off. Oddly, the one bit of information she was able to convey before the phone quit was that they'd been to support her sister-in-law during her brother-in-law's cancer surgery. It went well, but she was sick all the way home. It's so weird that we have synchronized stomachs at this distance! It's probably just a coincidence, but we have family links on some mysterious level, so maybe not. Psychic or not, I'd like it to go away please.
