Jun. 21st, 2020 10:03 pmAll that sleeping seems to have helped quite a bit. I think it's nothing short of miraculous that I was able to stay asleep so long. We had quite a nice Father's Day, although sadly without any family around. It was going to be another hot day, but we were having tea out on the porch, and it seemed still pleasant. We quickly put on some proper pants and went for a walk through the woods. We saw a toad. It rained a little last night, so the plants are all holding up in spite of the hot weather. When we got home, I made some toast and scrambled eggs with crumbled cheese and some snips of thyme and basil from my herb box out back. We had a lovely Facetime with Tron after breakfast. While we were sitting in the back yard reading and writing, the Philosopher called. He had also sent a very nice card. While we were getting dinner ready, the Diva called. The Sparrowhawk had started the charcoal, and I took over the grilling while he stayed on the phone with the Diva. We had cheeseburgers and hot dogs with salad and chips. I actually ate a burger, very slowly, and have had no ill effects, so things are actually looking up. Tron sent a card too, and the Nipper and the Diva went in together on some locally made fancy chocolates. They were hand-delivered to the door by a messenger who informed us that they could not stay outside or they would be damaged. I should think not, indeed! They are glazed with some kind of thin colorful shell over the chocolate, and each one gleams like a tiny, artful jewel.
