We both slept almost 8 hours last night, resulting in a big improvement in my state of mind. The trouble is, to get the sleep, I have to stay in bed, meaning I'm not doing anything. So then when I get up, I'm irritated because I can't do all the things I imagine. I grumped about how I need more time, and it's a gumption trap to have to do things by bits and pieces, because then I feel like "why bother? I'll never finish." Then I went outside and did some work anyway. Even though it wasn't really early any more, it was still pleasant--the air warming, but still soft. I got my trusty shovel and dug four more holes. I planted the day lilies--the velvety red one called "Ruby Spider," and the sun-orange one called "Primal Scream." A weird name, but the color is nice. It should be a Harry Potter-ish plant and utter an angry shriek if the deer try to eat it! That would fix 'em. I also planted the coneflower and the blanketflower by the corner of the house. The soil there is pure clay. I hope they will survive it. Then I watered all the plants, including the ones I planted yesterday. I still have four more to plant, but I'm getting there.

I cleaned up just in time for a delightful Zoom call with Deb and the Prussian. Later I had tea, read, and thought about stuff and made notes. I've been enjoying thinking about a fantasy world and its details, taking a rest from my former WIP which just wasn't working out at the moment. I have to get busy and do the minor revisions on the story I wrote back in June--and I will, but I just wanted some time off first. This is why I don't think I'm a type A personality, even though the Prussian advanced this suggestion during our discussion. If someone gives me a job to do, I will tackle it as if I were a type A. But in the end, I'd much rather drink tea in a comfy spot near my beloved and daydream . . . . If I can come up with a daydream that's well-polished enough, I feel as if I've accomplished something. I'm a type A daydreamer.

Oh! Oh! Edited to add: the most interesting accomplishment of the day--I bought something on eBay for the first time. I decided to replace the beloved old Portmeirion dishes I got from my parents that faded drastically due to evil dishwashing soap. At least, we think that's why the pattern all wore off. I swear I don't lick my plate THAT much, nor do I have a dragon tongue. I took part in an auction for some salad plates and dinner plates, and I succeeded in buying them. They cost more than I hoped, because stoopid people kept bidding each other's prices up, but still less than my bid limit. I think I got a pretty good deal, and now I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival. I'm happy because I did a new thing.
