MaritimePine of Shadow
Nov. 7th, 2020 09:38 pmIt was one more beautiful day, and wonder of wonders, I also got a decent amount of sleep. I dreamed of being in the mountains, with pine trees, helping to build some kind of camp. Originally it was a martial arts camp, but it turned into some other kind of gathering place. I was driving a pickup truck and performing other functions that I don't do in normal life. It was one of those dreams where I kept waking up, turning over and going back to sleep, and I'd go right back into the same dream. Apparently my dream-self thinks building shelter is a good thing to do diligently.
I had a plan to get the bread started first thing, because we were running out. It rose rapidly in the sunshine on the back porch and made four big loaves. While it was baking, I tried to have a peaceful cup of tea out in the back yard, but the sun was so bright that I needed the umbrella, and the wind was so gusty that it kept blowing the umbrella around. I looked through two catalogs and couldn't find what I wanted, so I gave up. Took the bread out of the oven, and then went to work on the buckthorn again. I accidentally got my arms all scratched up, because I get so intent on my mission of destruction that I forget to protect my skin. I read up about privet, and realized that I have THAT in my yard too. It's much more seriously invasive than I realized! So I'm going to have to dig those out as well. Good grief. I thought it was some nice kind of plant--but it isn't.
I ran a take-and-bake pizza from the grocery store through the oven for dinner, with salad for the vegetable portion. Then I made an apple cake for tomorrow, and watched the speeches while it was baking. Fireworks were going off in our neighborhood. I still feel so anxious, though. I'll feel much better after January 6, if all goes well. Even better on January 20. I hope.
