Mar. 25th, 2021 10:24 pmStill feeling demotivated, possibly because of several nights of not enough sleep. Also, I've spent far too much time fussing, fiddling, and fretting, while looking things up on the internet. In addition to the deer problem, the Sparrowhawk had a moth incursion on some of his sweaters, so I was trying to figure out the best solution for preventing moths. It's not as simple as I had imagined. As with deer, there is much misinformation, helpful advice that doesn't work, and things that probably work but are quite inconvenient. Also, my Fitbit is failing in so many ways. The biggest problem: the screen is so dim you can't read it. The first fix proposed by customer service: scroll through the screen to "settings" and reset brightness to normal. Uh huh. But you CAN'T because you can't see the screen! The second fix: Okay, then, reset the device, according to the following complicated set of instructions. Except that you're supposed to know when it's resetting by what appears on the screen. But the screen is not readable. Person after person reports the same problems. Only the same non-working solutions are proposed by moderators. Ugh. I think they don't really want to help you fix your Fitbit. They want you to throw it out and buy a newer, fancier one. Though given how much this one sucks, I'm not sure why I would want to.
We went out and measured the back fence to see how many feet of additional fencing we would need to keep the deer away. In the process, I realized how much brush still needs to be cut back there to complete my removal of invasive plants. I thought about it some more, and concluded that it might be best to finish the clearing out before I embark on another big step. I could do the fence next year, or maybe in the fall if all goes well. What I like is to make a GRAND PLAN and then do it all at once! But perhaps it may be best not to bite off more than I can chew.
Trying to forget my sorrows by watching the Men's Short Program at the World Ice Skating Championships. This had limited success, because Nathan Chen FELL DOWN. Is nothing sacred . . . .
