Goldenseal of Bliss
May. 7th, 2021 10:35 pmYesterday was a frustrating day, but today was a better one. I slept pretty well, although not 8 hours yet. I had a delightful and fun dream in which I was having dinner with Jack O'Neill and his extended family, which in this AU was large and cheerful. I was a good deal younger than I am in waking life, which is always nice too. I still got up rather late, and it looked intermittently like rain, but we still got out for a walk between clouds. I took a lot of picture with my phone of Michigan spring things to send Queenie, who is languishing in Florida where it is pretty hot already. I talked to her yesterday. Her doctor has finally awakened to the fact that COVID can cause the kinds of cardio problems she's having, and is going to refer her to a cardiologist. About which she said gloomily "And then they won't find anything, and I will be humiliated and irritated." Oh dear, how well I know that drill. But I'm still glad she's going. Her daughter the Gazelle is there, so she's in good hands.
When we got home, I went out and weeded for half an hour or so. Better than nothing. I then had tea and worked on various bits and pieces. A few weeks ago, I made this chicken dish in creamy garlic sauce, and froze some of it for later. I felt the sauce to chicken ratio was too great, so I cooked a bunch of rotini and mixed it into the sauce with the chicken, and then put some grated Parmesan on top and warmed it up in the oven. It was nice with steamed broccoli, which I have rather a lot of because there was a coupon. The Sparrowhawk thought it was really good.
Today was the Diva's birthday! As she said when we called her to sing the Birthday Song, there's something magical about May 7. It is always just on the verge of spring. It's beautiful, and there are flowers, and the weather is changeable, and makes you feel as if something wonderful is just about to happen. A good day for the Diva to be born! It was so nice to see her face on Facetime, even though she looked tired after a busy day in the bakery. Muffinhead had come home from college, too. What a good son! He has a BEARD!! OMG. It is a lovely beard, and he looks very sweet as a large bearded man, if such a thing is possible, but I keep feeling that this is some kind of prank, and the previous incarnation of Muffinhead will appear again. I'm afraid that, like the previous incarnation of my darling Diva, that earlier version only exists fondly in the files of memory. But there they will both live forever.
It was a nice day for ME for more reasons than celebrating the Diva. The kids sent me a lovely bouquet for Mother's Day, a couple of days early, and an intriguing box also came from the Diva. I'm saving it for Sunday.
