Very tired after a very busy week, hence the lack of posting. I'm so tired because I didn't sleep well last night, for a variety of reasons, one of which was a dream in which a rattlesnake was licking my hair. This may sound romantic to some, but I can assure you that it was not. Mr. Science arrived yesterday afternoon, and we enjoyed a leisurely conversation sitting in the back yard, then a glass of wine while we prepared dinner for him, then dinner followed by a walk, and more conversation until he got tired and had to go to bed. He had been up early, as is his wont, and had already been drilling concrete to install a railing at his mother in law's in the morning. He said that he would get up around dawn and head off to the UP, and that I need not get up to see him off. Well, I wasn't having that, so after a few hours of restless sleep, I woke up shortly before dawn and went downstairs. It turned out he hadn't slept well either, so he got up a little later than usual. When he did, we had coffee, and finally he headed off to his fortress of solitude.

At that point, I badly needed a nap, but first I wanted to call Queenie, because I knew she had been to the cardiologist while we were at the lake. Alas, there was sad news. Her dear old dog Mia had died, and she didn't call me because it was my anniversary and she didn't want me to be sad. So I'm sad now. May 30 was the anniversary of the day our mother died, and then Queenie's dog died too. That's kind of a lot to process on top of having long COVID and everything else. The cardiologist says she has to have a battery of tests, including a Holter monitor, which is not currently available because they're all in use for people with post-COVID cardiac symptoms. I did take a nap, but I'm still exhausted.

We went to the bookstore to pick up some Hugo nominated novels I had ordered. The Nipper wants to be in a book club with me, to motivate himself to read them all, so now I can get to work on that. Once I get some sleep. I also changed the sheets, washed a load of sheets, and put away two previously washed loads of laundry. More later . . . .
