Nov. 17th, 2021 07:28 pmI had a bad day with my stomach yesterday, after a week of not so good days. I had quite an exhausting schedule laid out for myself today: Physical therapy appointment at 8:15, lunch with Madame at 11, Zoom with my editor at 2. This proved to be another day that didn't go quite as planned. Barreling down the road to PT, I noticed that the car was making a disturbing badda-badda-badda noise, plus vibration. It didn't get any better. It wasn't the flappity-flap of the messed-up splash guard, which still hasn't been fixed because the dealer has not returned the Sparrowhawk's calls to schedule an appointment. It was a different not-good sound, of the type one cannot drive to Chicago on. Hence I called the Sparrowhawk from the parking lot and exhorted him to keep calling the dealer about this, and failing that, get hold of the non-dealer repair station. Then I went in, and a nice therapist looked at my gait and stuff and recommended some exercises. She did pretty much what I wanted to have done, and agreed with my self-diagnosis, so she must be right--right? The car didn't get any better on the way home. The dealer can't look at it for two weeks, which is too late. The independent place can look it tomorrow. I like them better anyway, but they have trouble getting parts sometimes. I hope they'll be able to diagnose and fix whatever this is.
Then I texted and called Madame to let her know I had to postpone our get-together, because I wasn't going to drive the car any more today. OF COURSE she had left her phone in the charger, so she went to the restaurant anyway, and I wasn't there. We had to untangle that and plan to meet on Monday instead. In lieu of lunch, I cleaned the toilet and put away laundry. My editor forgot to call me, or got busy or something, so eventually I messaged HIM. He was apologetic, sent me the Zoom link and we finally talked. Apparently my last email won his approval, and counts as a "brief synopsis," so he's sending me a contract. Now I have to create a chapter-by-chapter outline. Not my favorite thing, but onward!
I've had some rice and veggies and a few bites of chicken--so far so good. Maybe I'm getting better.
