Siskin of Ember
Nov. 23rd, 2021 10:46 pmI did not really get much done today at all. The Sparrowhawk was kind enough to say that the things I do are not always visible. I had my second PT appointment today. I had to confess I did very few of the exercises this week. The tummy problem left me lethargic and forgetful, so the end of the day would come and I'd be like "Oh yeah, those exercises. Meh." Well, PT is no use if you don't DO THE EXERCISES. I'm going to have to stack them with some other essential activity so I'll remember. Today I saw the other therapist, who I liked even better than the first. She put me through some additional work, but said she wasn't going to add anything to my list until I'd made a habit of the first set. Very sensible. Hopefully this week will go better.
I had a Zoom with Moonmoth and the Nonesuch, followed by some noodles. The Sparrowhawk went to the good noodle place this time, and I was able to eat them, unlike the bad noodles we got on Sunday because the good noodle place was closed. Then we had another Zoom with Deb and the Prussian. The Prussian has the best stories of memorable Thanksgivings. On one occasion, he was held up in a taxi by two armed motorcyclists on Thanksgiving Day in Brazil. We couldn't beat that one. While we were finishing up our call, I got a text from my friend in MN, who wanted to call me when I was through Zooming. Yesterday, her husband fell again, hit his head, and was taken to the ER. They're still working on getting him into hospice and determining who will have power of attorney. Meanwhile, decisions must be made about DNR and things. It is such a shame that a life so often ends in a tangle of confusions, recriminations, and phone calls with people yelling at each other. None of us wants this, but so many of us get it anyway. This phone call was a gift because in spite of all that, there was laughter, understanding, and some precious stories exchanged. I'm exhausted . . . I can only imagine how tired she must be! Come to think of it, I don't have to imagine--I've been there a couple of times myself. Oh yeah . . . that happened.
Tomorrow, I hope I'll be able to think about food so I can plan our little Thanksgiving.
