BudFlash of Bluster
Mar. 9th, 2022 09:23 pmI got my second eye done this morning, and I'm feeling pretty good, barring the perpetual annoyance of not being able to see out of one eye. Hopefully that will end tomorrow with my post-op checkup. My appointment today was earlier than the last one, so I didn't have to spend as long without food and water. Also, I heard the anesthesiologist telling someone (not me) that he gave me propofol this time instead of Versed. He described me as "a cool customer," or "cool as a cucumber" or some such phrase involving the word "cool" to indicate that he thought I could handle the procedure without being all doped up. As a result, I experienced it in real time and remember everything about it. It still wasn't scary or uncomfortable, though. My eyeball was quite numb. It confirmed that my only real memory of the last time--three bright lights in my eye and the doctor saying something--was correct. I saw three bright lights, and the doctor requested that I keep looking at them. He popped back in when the procedure was done to say that everything went well. I think that must be a happy place to work, because who wouldn't enjoy making people see better!
I've had trouble not being in a funk lately. World events have been a constant background of sadness, plus my personal worries and aggravations. We had about four inches of snow on Monday, which I shoveled once again, since I was between surgeries and thus okay to pick up the shovel. How fortunate! Now it's gradually melting away again. I hope that with both eyes reconditioned, I'll be able to devote myself more fully to driving away the dementors, with a shovel if necessary.
