Aaand another day goes by without any packing being done. This is making me crosser every day. I'm constantly being thwarted by Things That Come Up. I also didn't get the drip hose mended or replaced. The obliging Sparrowhawk stopped at the hardware store to see if they had a solution to my problems. It is pretty easy to mend a round hose, and there are devices to assist you. But a flat hose doesn't seem to be mendable. Tomorrow I will try some tape before giving up and redoing the whole megillah. I just hope my plants haven't all given up by then. Today was Peak Hot. However, it got dark before I was able to get out there--and on the longest day of the year, too! TCH!--so whaddaya gonna do.
We did get one thing done this morning. We hustled out of the house early to go to an appointment with a lawyer who does wills and elder law type things. There we signed the whole stack of documents she had ready for us--wills, powers of attorney, etc. etc. Hereafter, should we get struck by a meteor, it should be pretty easy, as such things go, for the kids to inherit everything that's left in equal shares, and access that inheritance without too much complication. And if we're abducted by aliens and left in a mysterious coma, they'll be able to take care of everything. Let's hope it's good fortune to do this on the solstice. I felt briefly empowered and efficient. Sigh. Maybe tomorrow . . . . Haha, yeah, tomorrow, as the sun begins slipping away again . . . . Aargh. It's happened too soon! I'm not ready! Oh well, at least there were strawberries.
