The Sparrowhawk went indefatigably off to the gym this morning, as he does, and I, being moderately awake--in spite of a night of strange dreams punctuated by the usual awake period from 4:30 to 5:30--actually motivated myself to do a few things. First I gave the kitchen a good cleaning, which it needed after my cooking foray last night. Then I went outside and did some more weeding and clipped up some brush and stuffed things into compost bags. I made sure the air conditioner was in a well-cleared area. It basically was already, because I take care that it shall be. But I made a few improvements. By that time I was hot and tired. I ate some of the mujadara maudite soup. I was correct--some plain dairy, such as Greek yogurt, or in this case, cottage cheese, smooths out the flavor and makes it tasty and palatable. I also cleaned three containers of strawberries so they would get eaten. The AC guy came and performed the yearly check up on our unit, and pronounced it, like its owners (only he didn't mention that), fit although elderly. While I was out weeding, I noticed a few baby cucumbers just starting, although I still don't see female flowers on the squash.

Then I worked on the WIP some more, discovering as I did a plot hole in my outline that the editor didn't notice when he accepted it, but which I shall have to deal with shortly. I hate when that happens. It's annoying when they point these things out, but more so when they don't, and you trip over it your own self. Then I went into another cooking fit. I was going to make beer-battered fried fish, but TWAGEDY! I was out of baking powder. So I just made plain old fried fish. I'm disappointed in this fish. It was supposedly a pound of frozen filets. But when I started frying it, it didn't even fry very well because there was so much moisture in it. It frizzled down to just enough for a serving each, and no leftovers. It was tasty enough, because I jazzed it up with herbs and spices, but not really worth the trouble. There were also artichokes, mashed potatoes, and salad. And THEN I even cleaned up the kitchen AGAIN, because the I thought the Sparrowhawk was tired. He had weird dreams last night, too. It's great when I actually get to do some work. Even though it just makes me think about how much more there is to do.
