DescendAnts of Flourish
Sep. 20th, 2022 08:34 pmPerturbed for reasons I will not go into. Nothing major, just things that I can't solve. Being unable to solve things makes me cranky. As I have said before, I am what they call a point-and-shoot horse: I like to see the fence, plot my course to the fence, jump the fence. Done! Unfortunately, that's not how things work.
We had Bird Baby for a couple of hours this morning. She cried a bit more than usual. Normally she's a very chill baby. I think she's teething. I carried her around and she drooled intensively on me! We also spent some time singing her a lot of songs from The Hobbit and LotR. I made up tunes to everything once upon a time. Some of them, like the Troll Song, are way too scary for a baby who speaks English, but she doesn't have that skill yet, so the idea of the troll chewing on a shinbone won't bother her. I'll get some other songs when she knows more words! We listened to some twinkly baby lullaby music that we happened to have in the house. By the time Dr. Nurse came to pick her up, she had crashed and was enjoying a lovely nap on my shoulder. As she was leaving with her mom, there was a big growly thunderstorm. Then the sky cleared in the west, and then the storm came back around at supper time.
We got the car back--to the tune of 1500 dollars, but it's a lot cheaper than buying a new car. This car has gone up 80% in price since 8 years ago, so I doubt we'll ever buy one like it. Inflation is depressing and scary. The Sparrowhawk went to the store on the way home from the garage and brought home some salmon and green beans, which he cooked for me. He's trying to pacify my stomach, which is very kind of him. Deb and Prussian texted to say they have covid--in spite of taking great care and having all the immunizations possible. Argh. The Prussian has Paxlovid, but Deb is still working her way through the bureaucratic maze.
