MapleStand of Leave
Sep. 30th, 2022 11:44 pmWeird--I got 10,000 steps without even trying! No nice walks or exercise--just running around like mad getting ready for the Philosopher and his Lovely Friend. I made four loaves of bread and did some laundry and kitchen cleanup before our weekly Zoom with Deb and the Prussian. Then I actually kept on my normal schedule of trying to get some work done on the WIP. After that I was so cranky and hungry that I took a snack break and made some food for the Sparrowhawk and me, albeit of a rather sketchy nature. Then I made a quick trip to the store. I bought some beer, so they carded me. As I struggled to get my license out of the wallet, I apologized to the woman behind me. I told her that I was doing an emergency run because my son was coming to visit. She started laughing and said she was there for the same reason!
I was not sure when the kids would get here, or whether they might need something to eat when they arrived. I made a morel soup with thin noodles from a kit that we bought at a nearby foodie place. I added extra mushrooms and carrots, and some really nice chicken broth from the freezer. I also cooked some bratwurst for potential breakfasts, lunches, and sandwiches, and cut up a pork roast and put the spices on it, and stashed it in the refrigerator to be cooked in case of necessity. I'm thinking we'll probably go out to dinner tomorrow so we'll have more time to be out and about, but if that's not what the guests want, I can fix dinner. Then I cleaned up again after all this, and put in another load of laundry.
The kids had originally said they thought they'd stay in a hotel. However, they texted from the road about 10 pm, to ask if it would be okay if they just stayed with us. This inspired another flurry of cleaning and making sure there were towels etc. Luckily I had just washed them, and clean sheets were on the bed. They should be here any minute--I hope.
