LeafRain of Leave
Oct. 7th, 2022 08:19 pmI got my flu shot a week ago Thursday, and my arm has been sore and irritated ever since. At first, it was a hot red lump that hurt. Now it has diminished down to being slightly red and giving me occasional twinges. I was glad I didn't get the new covid vaccine simultaneously, although the pharmacist offered to do it. Still, perhaps it would have been better to do all the suffering at once. To such pointless bargaining we are reduced. The person who gave us the shots said she remembered the Sparrowhawk from last year, because of his tattoo! That's my little grumble of the day.
The Sparrowhawk went to his boxing class, and I went for a walk this morning. The air was chilly and fresh. The trees are beginning to turn. The hickory trees and the black walnuts are golden already. They always seem to go first. I've now replaced the 2000 words I had to cut when I changed course a bit with my plot. So I'm back to 40,000 words again. It's super annoying to have plodded along only to return to the same place. I'm hoping to get some momentum going again at this point. It's also annoying that ERB specifically says there's no dust in the dead sea bottoms, as they are entirely covered with moss. I wanted a dust cloud, but I can't have one.
I made salmon loaf for dinner. My mother used to make it on Fridays. Some people (my sisters, ha ha) hate it, but I think it's not bad. This recipe called for some parsley, so I went out and picked it from the garden. What a delicious green smell fresh parsley has! I used to steal it from the landlady's garden when I was a child, and I still love it. Salmon loaf is actually better as leftovers, in a sandwich, imho. I pulled the strings from the whole heap of beans that I picked yesterday. That was quite a chore. They'll be ready to cook tomorrow.
