It was rainy and chilly today. Yesterday, when I was grocery shopping, the vegetables were all very expensive, and I could not get enthusiastic about them. This morning, I made a quick trip to the farmers market. It's never crowded on Fridays, although there aren't many vendors there. I found quite enough people willing to sell me lovely vegetables, though. They are not cheap at the famers market, either, but they are so fresh and nice that it's worth it. I quickly obtained a gigantic green cabbage for three dollars--that was a bargain--and a box of brussels sprouts, some baby bok choy from the nature preserve garden, and two pounds of green beans that were crisp and tasty enough to eat raw. I got a couple of extra treats for the Sparrowhawk: some lion's mane and oyster mushrooms, and a ham and cheese croissant for tomorrow. And a dozen eggs from pasture-raised chickens.

We had our Zoom with Deb and the Prussian. Their first son just got a prestigious new job at twice his former salary. So at least I have ONE set of friends that I won't have to worry about how they'll survive in their old age! I knocked off another 500 words. The dishwasher repairman came and unclogged the drainage hose--AGAIN. The Sparrowhawk says he needs to be more careful to remove food particles from the plates. I blame the machine. For dinner, I cooked some of the green beans. The Sparrowhawk made some of his good scrambled eggs with some mushrooms in them. Plus toast. Simple and good.
