Nov. 2nd, 2022

I'm feeling groggy and achy. Probably it's the vaccination kicking in. This morning, the Sparrowhawk went to get his blood drawn. Then he came back in time for his piano lesson, and I went off to my yearly Medicare checkup. My doctor talked a mile a minute as usual, but this time she was revved up to the point that she was barely comprehensible. I had to draw the clock (it's always ten after eleven) and remember three words (ball, shoe, pen). She offered to send all my prescriptions to Express Scripts, but then explained that a lot of people were mad at her because it hadn't worked out for them and there wasn't anything she could do about it, but she'd be happy to send my scripts there if I wanted her to . . . whoa. I kinda wanted to put her on "pause." She gave me the pep talk at high speed about losing weight, and I was just like "ehhhhhh." Then the nurse came back and gave me a covid shot and cleaned my ears. Sometimes I find doctor visits motivating and prance out going "Oh yes, I am definitely going to be healthy as all get out and do all the healthy things now." But this was not that day. It's super depressing now, because it reminds me of my parents. But I've taken to denying depression on their stoopid forms, because THEY DON'T KNOW ME.

I got home just as Dr. Music was leaving. He had brought back some of my tupperware from before, and said in his funny way, "I see you have prepared us another delicious offering" as he accepted the cake. He added that this would make his wife's day. I hope so. As it was a beautiful day, I thought I might do some more leaf raking. I forgot to put my work gloves on, but thought "Oh, the leaves are nice and dry, I don't need gloves." I filled one bag. I was working on the second when I looked down at my hands and--my wedding ring was gone!! AIEEEEE! I panicked. I started searching through the leaves, but after awhile I had to go inside for work time. I knew it was there in an area a couple of feet square, but in a pile of leaves. Not to prolong the suspense . . . the Sparrowhawk went out and found it within an hour. What a relief.

For dinner, I pursued my project of clearing scrips and scraps out of the freezer, in preparation for the holidays. I thawed a small container of spaghetti sauce (labeled) and one of what looked like beans (unlabeled, but it was beans). I made a salad, some noodles to go with the sauce, and some cornbread to go with the beans. Now I wish I had not, because my stomach is very unhappy after the shot. But the Sparrowhawk thought it was good.
