May. 17th, 2023 10:16 pmThis was kind of a gravy day in that Madame was occupied by a visit from her daughter from Florida, so I didn't have that on my schedule. I was anticipating a visit from Moonmoth's sister PropellerBeanie, who is traveling the country in her camper truck, but she had a slight change of plans and will come tomorrow instead. Hence, this seemed like a good day to invite Dr. Nurse to stop by with Bird Baby while Dr. Music was giving the Sparrowhawk his piano lesson. She was heading over to the botanical garden to see another friend afterwards. I felt that some refreshment would be necessary, because the poor child could not be allowed to run around all day without any lunch. I just am not moving as fast as I used to. I had barely time to make some blueberry corn muffins and tuna salad, and set out various other snacks--cottage cheese, deli pasta salad (leftover), hummus, and crackers, some leftover strawberries and cantaloupe, and some digestive biscuits, if you're curious to know what else--and totally failed to wash up in the kitchen.
Bird Baby is delightful as ever, but now moving pretty fast! Her mom had brought lunch for her. She went through peas, cut up sweet potatoes, and chicken bits in no time, sampled some fruit and a cracker, threw various metal objects on the floor to hear them make interesting sounds, and deigned to sit, or rather wriggle vigorously, on my lap while her mother hastily consumed some nourishment. She went up and down the stairs a few times. We have a fine set of stairs, very attractive to babies. Dr. Music professed himself rather tired. He was planning to walk home while the rest of his family went about their business. I packed up the rest of the tuna salad and muffins in a bag with handles, so he could refresh himself with a snack when he got home.
After they left I was tired. I confess I did nothing more but take a shower and sit in the back yard with tea and a notebook. When the Sparrowhawk went to the gym, I thought about taking a walk. It was a lovely day. But, in the end, I lay down for awhile instead. I want to be in good form for tomorrow. I'm excited to see PropellerBeanie and hear about her adventures.
