May. 23rd, 2023

I didn't sleep well last night, and woke up with a sore throat and asthma problems, alas. I wanted to ascribe it to the smoke from burning Canada that has been hanging over our sky, creating a strangely tinted haze and blood red suns in the evening, but it's probably the viruses again. I tested myself for covid and was negative. I wasn't able to do much. It's a sad thing when you fold laundry and then are tired. I also haven't felt like eating. Chicken soup, a baked potato and some steamed broccoli, courtesy of the Sparrowhawk. Lots of tea. We had a Zoom with Deb and the Prussian, moved from Friday when we were both otherwise occupied.

I woke up several times in the night, once from another dream of malevolent entities. In this case, it was a vampire who was supposedly asleep, but he was sleeping with his eyes open, so how can you tell? I thought something more permanent should be done about him, but was reluctant to engage with him, asleep or not. This raised a question in my mind. It is morally wrong to kill a human who is defenseless. But is it morally wrong to kill a vampire in his sleep? Van Helsing didn't think so. This falls into that liminal area of things that look human but aren't, or things that once were human but are not now. I could not solve the problem while asleep. Someone had piled iron sand atop the vampire, and they told me that iron sand slowed vampires down. I looked up "iron sand" later in the day, just to make sure there really was such a thing. Yes, of course there is. My brain must have tucked this information away at some earlier date. In case of vampires?

Today was Angelbaby's birthday! We tried to call and sing the birthday song, but had to text instead because young people seldom answer their phones these days. We Venmo'd money. We're quite advanced, for grandparents.
