Jun. 22nd, 2023 09:48 pmThere's two seconds less daylight than there was yesterday. Just thought I'd point out that cheery fact. We're back on the long slide to darkness. Ah well, it will stay light for quite a long time yet. I went grocery shopping at long last, but there weren't very many good deals. I bought some walleye for tomorrow--not that it was cheap AT ALL, but it was cheap-ER. When the price goes down a few bucks, I buy it, because you can't get it that often. I'm kinda worried about this store. They've made some changes recently that I don't like. Their produce section used to be excellent, and lately it has been pathetic. The broccoli was so dilapidated I refused to buy it. They did have some nice tomatoes on sale, so I bought some and we had BLTs for dinner. Alas, the Sparrowhawk saw the potatoes I had carefully boiled in their jackets for making some more potato salad, and he MASHED them. Oh, the perfidy! I ate them anyway, even though mashed potatoes and BLTs don't really go together. I guess in his culinary aesthetic they do, and who am I to judge?
The car dealer called with the estimate for repairs. Ughhh . . . well, it's less than it would be for a new car! It won't be ready for at least a week, because it will take 3-4 days just to get the parts. Meanwhile we drive this weird modern Hyundai where you actually push the buttons to change gears. It has lane control and so many bells and whistles that it's quite distracting. It turns itself off at stoplights to save gas. I'm not really a fan, but I suppose it's a good thing to be forced to take a look at the probable future.
