Oops, I almost forgot to blog again. It's been a busy couple of days. Having had that bad day on Thursday, I was left unready for visitors on Friday, and spent the morning kinda flailing around, having those mini-episodes of time jumping that happen after a virus or virus-adjacent event like vaccination. You know the kind of thing--it's 9:30 and you think, "okay, plenty of time to finish up those cookies before 11" and the next time you glance at the clock it's nearly 11 and they're not in the oven yet. It feels as if a whole segment has just vanished. Anyway, the cookies got made, and the apple crisp went into the oven after they came out, and somehow I managed a shower and getting dressed before the guests arrived, whew. Tron and the Lumberjack had kindly taken our orders for coffee and lunch, which they picked up on arrival. Alas, the one thing that didn't get made was my sandwich. I preferred their continued company to the sandwich, so I told them to just get a refund and not go back for it.

It was a quiet afternoon. The Lumberjack promptly took a restorative nap, and Tron decided to finish up some work she had on hand so she could relax afterwards. It was rainy and dark outside, a nice time to flop on the couch (or in the Sparrowhawk's case, in the recliner). Eventually people were hungry again. We got the customary pizza, with salad made by me, and followed by the apple crisp. After supper, we watched "Edge of Tomorrow." It held up surprisingly well--just as exciting as it was the first time, and I had leisure to enjoy the humor. Then everyone went precipitously to bed, because we had to get up early for Saturday's special event--the Parkinson's Walk at the botanical garden.

It rained all night and continued to rain all morning while we were inside listening to little speeches and the kinds of things that extroverts like but I do not, and standing around exacerbating my sore knee. It was worth putting up with, however, for the sake of the moment when the Sparrowhawk's Coach got her people on stage for a little demo of some of their exercises. The Sparrowhawk was the star of the show, performing various punching routines with great elan. The audience was quite inspired and cheered him. I was proud of him. We went for a walk in the rainy gardens anyway. Tron and the Lumberjack had their Eddie Bauer rain jackets, and the Sparrowhawk and I had our orange plastic emergency ponchos. We were just a little damp, not completely soaked. The autumn woods were lovely in the rain, and seeing the sculptures in the sculpture garden twinkling with water droplets gave them a whole new beauty. Alas, my darlings had to take themselves off home right after the walk. It was a whirlwind visit and left me missing them acutely, but glad to have seen them.

We thought we were done for the day, but Dr. Nurse had been trying to arrange a visit with the Sparrowhawk, to pick his brains about health care administration. We tentatively planned to meet on Monday, but she texted on Saturday to say she'd already made the soup, so why not come over then? I quickly made some brownies to share, we went, and had a delightful meal with her family while she and the Sparrowhawk dissected various aspects of health care. We joked that either they need a digital whiteboard, or a Wall of Crazy in Dr. Nurse's kitchen. Everything is complicated.

I got 10,000 steps, but my poor old body was very stiff and sore as a result, and my stomach was killing me from eating pizza and such. Oof. Today was a day of recuperation, meaning we didn't go to church at 9 am, ha ha. We went at 11, and almost managed to be late at that. Better tomorrow--I hope.
