RainyDrive of Ember
Nov. 21st, 2023 10:24 pmWe made it to Chicago with surprisingly little aggravation. The traffic wasn't too bad, and it quit raining somewhere in Indiana--a bonus. Every time some petty dissatisfaction arose in my mind, I thought, "If it was still raining, I'd be saying to myself, if only it would stop raining, I would be so happy! And it DID stop raining, so now I'm happy." And I was. Our hotel is respectable but a bit funky, and the refrigerator they said would be here is not. We took the pie to the Philosopher's house, and it's in his refrigerator. We've seen young Aquinas, so our lives are complete. We drove to their house and had supper with them, and found our way back to the hotel again. It has no parking lot, so you either wander around the streets like a lost bird seeking a twig to perch on, or get valet parking, which is like having to buy a whole other hotel room just for your car. I'll be game for the duration, but I'm confirmed in my opinion that I could never live in a city.
