Willet of Ember
Dec. 11th, 2023 09:58 pmI'm trying to stay in the present, because the past and the future are both kind of problematic in this season. In the present, I seem to be overextended every time I turn around. I keep thinking "Oh, next week is good--I don't have anything on the schedule then." Until it actually arrives, and is just as jammed up as the last one! The Christmas season being short this year, it's already high time the cards and gifts were mailed--only they're not! Of course, I don't HAVE to do any of this . . . it's just that I LIKE to. And I also like to have time to do the things that I want. I guess there are just too many of them to fit into the day.
This morning, I drove the Sparrowhawk to church to count the money, and then drove myself over to see Dragonfly and have lunch with her. While I was doing that, I got a lovely photo of Tron drinking her morning coffee, home from Ghana! And I got a text from Dr. Nurse, asking if she could come over with Bird Baby to do a little studying while Dr. Music is doing his piano lessons. Their house is not large, and when he has students over, it gets crowded. So we did our best to amuse Bird Baby so Dr. Nurse could do some reading and studying. We got the toy animals out, and rang the bells, played with the fairy house, peeled a couple of clementines, and decorated my laptop with sticky dots in several colors. I'm not sure Dr. Nurse got a lot done, but at least it was a change of scene. I regretted very much that I couldn't also provide them with dinner, but we were just planning on leftovers. I swear I haven't had a minute to shop or anything.
Tomorrow, I'm pretty much booked up, and I also got a text from the women I get together with every couple of weeks asking who could host, because our usual host is sick. So I volunteered for that tomorrow night. I've written six Christmas cards, but then quit because my pen ran out of ink and I have a headache.
