On our last day at the lake, we were awakened by . . . a THUNDERSTORM! At 7 am! Dark veils of rain clouds swept across the lake, and it was pouring. This was not at all what any of the weather reports promised, but weather at the lake is fickle. You must love surprises and be flexible. By the time we had packed up to check out, the storm was breaking up. There were turnovers at the coffee shop, and a fantastic cloudscape built of thunderstorm remnants, better than NC Wyeth.

The air temperature had risen surprisingly. We went to the beach, where the Sparrowhawk sat in a chair and watched me test the water. It was just that small degree warm enough that made it possible to acclimate to it and really enjoy swimming! What a delightful hour to wrap up our visit! On the way home, we stopped at the local meat company and obtained some sausages and bacon to console us in our return to everyday life. An invigorating swim in cold waves, followed by sausages--that's the life for a Viking. We put away the remnants of our trip provisions, I put my laundry in, and the Sparrowhawk cooked sausages, potatoes, and broccoli for dinner. Then we had a Zoom to catch up with Deb and the Prussian. I miss the lake, but I have to admit this couch is pretty comfy, and I'm looking forward to sleeping in my own bed.
