Armadillo of Zenith
Jun. 27th, 2024 10:24 pmThis was a much nicer day. The weather was beautiful and we had lights and a stove, and everything except TV, which you can actually live without. Alas, I couldn't go out and work in my yard, because I had to finish the proofreading I hadn't been able been able to do without the internet. But that's done now, and I'm glad. Things were better in the old days, in some respects. Like, if you were proofreading a paper copy, there's not much that can stop you! Losing power might even be a benefit!
There was a bit of drama in the neighborhood while I was sitting in the living room reading. A really large firetruck, with ladders and all, pulled up outside the Reclusive Neighbor's house. I didn't see anything burning. After the fire truck, I heard the siren of an approaching ambulance. They brought the neighbor's mother, who has been visiting him lately, out on a stretcher. She was sitting up and appeared alert, so hopefully it was nothing too drastic. The neighbor and another person got into his car and followed the ambulance. Then the Manly Neighbor across the street dashed out and waved the car over to ask what was going on. I reflected on the fact that this was something I wouldn't have done. I would want to help, but not intrude. I think these things are considered very differently by different personality types. Hopefully everything will be fine and neither assistance nor intrusion will be required.
