Did not get enough sleep, although we didn't stay up super late, because we thought at the time that we probably wouldn't really know anything until later. I called Madame and left a text message, but she didn't reply to either one. I decided to just go over there and see what was going on. The Sparrowhawk went back to bed and took a nap in my absence, a wise call I thought. My trip to see what Madame was up to turned out to be a good call, too. Her door was open, but when I knocked and called hello, no answer. I guessed she was in the bathroom, which turned out to be true. Eventually she emerged with her track suit on, and was surprised to see me. She said she had been completely distracted by "all this," waving at the tv. She couldn't hear anything I said, and then I saw her implant hearing aid lying on the table. When she put it on, she still couldn't hear. I changed out the battery for her, and then we were able to communicate. She was in quite a tizzy, and eager to go out once she realized that's what I was there for. Shortly after we arrived, Mademoiselle called her and was literally weeping on the phone for awhile. She decided to call back since Madame was with me. I hope they spoke later--it sounded as if both of them needed someone to talk to. Madame could not remember what day of the week it was, but she could remember meeting with a friend in 2016, and the friend crying at that time! We had a somewhat muted visit.

I went home by the back way. The bright leaves we enjoyed just last week have mostly blown away in the wind, and those that are left are tattered pennons.
