Nov. 9th, 2024 10:10 pmThe Sparrowhawk expressed his disappointment that today wasn't quite as lovely a day as yesterday. While I understand and sympathize, I'm not going to complain. Mostly it was because neither of us felt as good physically as yesterday, and that's to be expected. Extend yourself one day, take half a step back the next. Bodies have their ups and downs. It's just more noticeable as one gets older. I find that disappointing too, but we're vertical and mobile, so hooray for us.
We had morning tea and were happy that we weren't in the car already! Then we wanted to go for a walk while it was still sunny, but the Sparrowhawk had not slept well, so he went back to bed for a nap while I went to the grocery store. At the store, they were gearing up for their "Grand Re-opening." I guess they're all done moving everything around and making things worse. She said sulkily. My favorite jam was on the shelf again, so it wasn't all bad! When I got home, he was up and ready to go. We drove over to the small lake for a change. It was so great to be on the water again, but I couldn't quite make it all the way over to the boardwalk in the marsh. Even thought it was overcast, and chillier than yesterday, I could have sat on the bench gazing through cattails to the water for a long time. My chest hurt and I was coughing quite a lot again, so we went home. Sat on the comfy couch, had another cup of tea, and was ever so grateful I wasn't on I-75 coming back from somewhere between Frankenmuth and Saginaw. I did look up Reese, MI, and determined that if I ever went there, I'd visit the Track Side restaurant and have a Bad Ass Chicken Sandwich. Perhaps with a side of Nancy's Balls--a mysteriously intriguing appetizer. I'm pretty sure the baby shower was not being held there.
I held out for a time, hoping my cup of tea might revive me and I would be able to go to church. Then I gave up and we both took another nap. His first one didn't really do the trick. We straggled downstairs after dark and ate chicken pot pie and some broccoli I had just purchased, and watched baking.
