BroadBean of Celeste
Jan. 11th, 2025 09:44 pmWe were invited to brunch with Dr. Nurse and her family this morning. Which meant I had to get up and shovel the driveway again. There was maybe another three inches of snow last night. It was nice and fluffy and easy to push off, but still. I wasn't worried about going down the driveway to brunch, but I wanted to car to go back up again without a hitch this time! We had some little gifts for the family, and the Sparrowhawk wrapped them nicely while I was shoveling.
Brunch was delightful. Bird Baby is big enough now to stand on a footstool and break and stir the eggs! She also speaks in complete sentences! While we were eating, she got some of her healthy veggie stick snacks--they have so many fancy things for kids these days!--and while chomping on them, looked at me and said "I'm CRUNCHING at you!" Dr. Science made us tomato and mushroom omelettes, bacon, and blueberry scones. While he was eating his second scone, the Sparrowhawk was heard to observe, "It's nice to eat!" After a couple of days of nothing but jello and water, this is so true. I asked Dr. Nurse for hints about what Bird Baby might like, and she recommended a toy digging machine that came with its own battery operated drill that could be used to screw in the plastic bolts that put the maching together. It was a big hit! We left when Bird Baby was going down for a nap, and her mom told me that she slept with her new drill.
The sun had come out for a couple of precious hours, and helped to melt away the last remnants of snow from our driveway. The Sparrowhawk talked to the service manager at the garage. Apparently one thing that has delayed work is that when the battery dies, all the computer code information about what might be wrong goes away too. So they had to start from scratch. Maybe it will be ready on Monday . . . . I was so tired that I couldn't go to church in the afternoon. I took a long nap and didn't wake up until it was dark. The Sparrowhawk took a slightly shorter nap and made delicious stir fry for dinner.
