CedarWaxwing of Sleet

An unusual day. We awoke to another blanket of snow over everything. A fine rain of snowy particles was sifting down, thickly enough that it was like a mist in the air, veiling everything at any distance. The Sparrowhawk went to his money counting job. I got a message from Queenie to say that she was at the dental emergency office with the Fireman, who apparently was in dire need of a root canal and temporary crown. Once they took him in to do the work, she went out to the car and called me. We were chatting, when another number appeared on my screen. I begged her indulgence to take the call, and was glad I had, because it turned out to be my Aunt B, one of my two only remaining aunts. They are both aunts by marriage. Aunt B is 95 and lives in a care facility. She can't write Christmas cards any more, because her handwriting has gotten too shaky, so she took it into her head to call a bunch of people today, of whom I was one. I was delighted to hear from her. I took the opportunity to tell her that my brother had died. I have not yet found a good way to communicate this to the remaining relatives. I figured telling her would ensure that it would soon percolate around the network at no additional effort to myself. She has remarkable clarity of mind at 95, and pretty good hearing too.

Then I got back to Queenie, who shortly was ready to go home and make the Fireman some easy to eat lunch. Meanwhile, the Sparrowhawk found that the battery was weak again and problem codes were appearing, so he took the car back to the dealer and had a new battery installed. I hope this solves the problems. Snow continued to fall, enough that I feel I should be shoveling again, but I was emphatically not in the mood. It's freezing cold at the moment--single digits that feel like negative ones. No thank you. Another way in which I resemble an old car is that when the voltage is low, the rest of my body throws me random emergency codes, signaling that something is amiss. Best not to drive around in such weather.
