We had a lovely couple of days with Tron and the Lumberjack. After a slight change of plans, they arrived in mid-afternoon Friday. Their beds were all ready as usual. We chilled for awhile, and then Tron and I carved the pumpkins. We had to send out an emergency bulletin and ask if they could bring some! Tron obtained three little ones--small, petite, and tiny. I scooped out the pulp and carved faces on the larger two, and she cut the littlest one into decorative patterns of flowers and stars that were very pretty when illuminated from within. We ordered their favorite pizza, and Margaret raided my closet, with my help, to find a costume to be the Log Lady from Twin Peaks. I wore my usual outfit that I always imagine looks like a forest elf. The Lumberjack was some other character from Twin Peaks whose name I have forgotten, but it was awesomely cool, and the Sparrowhawk was content to wear his Captain America hockey jersey. We had a lot of visitors, though as usual we forgot to count them. We had at least 30, perhaps as many as 50. They all had really great costumes, though I wasn't sure what some of them were. One of my favorites was a tiny little girl in a pink plush axolotl onesie. I said "Oh, are you an axolotl?" Her mother seemed surprised and pleased that I recognized it.

One of my favorite knock-knock jokes: "Knock knock!"
"Who's there?"
"Axolotl."
"Axolotl who?"
"Axolotl questions, you'll getalotl answers!"

There now exists a video of a me as a rather portly forest elf singing the Bit O'Honey jingle. Tron recorded me. After the tricking and treating had died down, we watched Bride of Frankenstein, which the other three hadn't seen before.

They got to stay all of Saturday, as well. Naps and walks were taken. The Sparrowhawk and I went to the farmers market to pick up the meat we had ordered ahead of time. I love it so much! I always think I'll just dash over and get one thing, but when I'm there among the sights and smells, I want to buy everything. The farm lady called out to us, "How are my two favorite people?" She is a sweetie. We got pasties for lunch, and a latte for Tron. I cooked a dinner that was well received: pork chops dusted with the spice rub the kids gave the Sparrowhawk for Father's Day, some cabbage rolls stuffed with a brown rice mix and tomato sauce, Greek-style green beans (fasolakia lathera), a big salad, mashed potatoes, and some bread and butter and feta slices, because the green bean recipe said it could be eaten as a main dish with a bit of feta and bread. I was pleased because I went back to get a few more veggies, and the Lumberjack had already cleaned the serving dishes. Success! I made another batch of apple crisp, but it was all eaten up on Friday, so we had cookies and ice cream for dessert, and watched Patisserie Week from GBBO, plus the original Frankenstein. Oo, scary!

They left this morning after breakfast, with a bag of assorted food items--mostly to make me feel better! It was another beautiful day. We went to church, followed by another walk and another nap. I hate the time change. All of a sudden, it's five-thirty and daylight is over! It was good while it lasted.
