AsterSeed of Bluster
Mar. 11th, 2026 06:42 pmI overestimated my wellness a tiny bit. I did not feel great this morning, but felt it wasn't bad enough to justify not seeing Madame. I planned to get there earlier than usual so I could leave at lunch time instead of staying while she ate. This worked pretty well. When I first arrived, she seemed more confused and weaker than usual, but she perked up after some coffee and conversation. The green hospice notebook was sitting on her table, but she seemed unaware of any of that. It was just a normal visit. I left at noon, and I think she was getting tired and ready to let me go by then. I saw some notes on her whiteboard that seemed to indicate her hearing aid battery had not been charged yesterday evening, but it was working all right today.
Honestly, I could not wait to get out of there. That place gives me the heebee jeebees more every time I go. A young woman dressed as a Muslim, probably from somewhere in Africa, was delivering clean laundry while I waited for Madame to return from a music activity. She asked if I were Madame's sister, and I said no, just a friend. She said "Just a friend? Well, then you are a nice person." I must admit, it is pretty nice of me to come and visit under the circumstances, but I can only imagine how tedious it must be to live there 24/7. If everyone quits visiting because it is tiresome, then the resident would be very lonely. My new acquaintance told me all about her own mother's problems, as she put the clean shirts away, and about how her older sister takes care of mom. Everyone has similar troubles!
I was again overcome with the yearning to be horizontal. I took a brief nap. It wasn't enough. Precipitation has started up again, but this time it is snow. Sigh . . .
