Even after the coffee cake, I still had some blueberries and a bag of cherries on the back porch. I made some pie crust and turned them into a cherry/berry pie. It is too juicy, even though I used a recipe that is supposed to thicken the juice to a proper consistency. But as long as Paul Hollywood isn't here to turn up his nose at it, I'll consider it good enough. The Sparrowhawk is happy because he loves cherry pie. He needed a little cheering up. I think his face is getting better, slowly, but it bothered him a lot.

I can get about one thing done per day, and that was it. In the afternoon, I got the edits to a story I wrote some time ago, so I read through those also, and made a few proofreading corrections. That was really all it needed. I was fine with the edits that were done. They moved the story along and added some good topical references. So, that wasn't really work. It was a pleasure. (Just pointing out that I can work well with critique and editing, and I am not merely an oppositionalist. So there! She said, oppositionally.)

After that, I went out for a quick walk, because it was FIFTY FIVE degrees out. Wow. I got paused as soon as I went out the door, because Daisy next door darted out of her house, full of desire to give important news to someone. Since I was the first person she saw, I was chosen. I learned that this was the first day they got to have recess without a jacket or snowpants! She also questioned why people say it isn't spring yet, when it obviously is. I started saying something about the equinox, and she replied, "I KNOW. March 21." Then she wanted to talk about the problems of powerful winds that MIGHT be able to sweep away your whole house. This is indeed a problem that requires some discussion. I'm always flattered when kids want to chat with me. Her father, Irish, then emerged in search of her, and he too had important news to impart. First he pointed out to me that the neighbors across the street have bought a Westphalia camper bus. Oh, I'm so jealous. Then he told me about another neighbor who is planning to sell her house. I wish I could get one of my kids to move in there, but I think they're happy where they are.

Speaking of kids, the Diva and I were texting about hot cross buns while I was making the pie. We talked about fun things we used to do at Easter when the kids were little. She sent me a very funny picture of our old friend, her godfather, goofing around with some stickers we had bought for the kids. He had Easter breakfast with us many times. Alas, he has been gone for quite a few years now. We laughed together and then were sad together.
