This is our Immunity Day--two weeks since our second shot. Yay! So this is as good as it gets. I celebrated by doing my own grocery shopping this morning. It wasn't quite as much fun as I had hoped. I still had to wear the mask, and it's annoying. I sweat underneath it, and it makes me feel hampered and as if I can't see. I also had to take pains to remember to follow the directional arrows in the aisles. But it was still very satisfying to choose my own food. I got a lot of Easter candy for later distribution. I also got a corned beef brisket, a cabbage, onions, potatoes, and a big bag of carrots. All on sale, I might add. It was also satisfying to see a couple of my favorite checkers and to hear that they have been well, although they said that another woman that I know has had Covid-19 and is still not ready to work. They haven't been offered vaccinations. They said they were told shots would be available in the store pharmacy, but that hasn't happened. They said it made them feel as if they were not very important, and I assured them I didn't feel that way.

Once again, I hadn't slept well--the kind of night that is a series of naps, punctuated by irritated wakefulness. The wind thumped and sighed around the house all night, like a surly teenager. Right on schedule, at 4 am, it rained. But in the morning, the sky was blue, and the air was windy and fresh. The rain had finally swept away the last traces of old snow. I drove past the lake on the way home from the store, and by a magical transformation, the old grey ice was completely gone, replaced by blue water.

The swelling around the Sparrowhawk's eyes is going down, but he is still feeling extra tired. I put away two loads of laundry and cooked dinner. There was leftover roast chicken, so we had that, plus artichokes, mashed potatoes, and chopped salad with cucumbers. We're still working our way through the pie. Piecrust at night doesn't agree with my stomach, but I found out something that I will share for future reference: cherry berry pie with Greek yogurt and a sprinkling of walnuts makes a delicious breakfast.
