ismoI've been wondering why my trillium, which was budding a couple of days ago, hasn't bloomed. A closer inspection revealed that it's because some bad creature ate the buds right off it. This same creature, or one like it, ate one of my pitiful remnant tulips as well. We hates them so much, my precious. On the bright side, my little seed starter trays continue to grow and reach for the sun. I thought the litchi tomatoes, the za'atar oregano, and the very old (from 2014) Tigger melons were not going to germinate. But it looks as if one or two of each of those is sprouting as well. I gaze at them each day, with equal parts of thrill and terror. I would so like them to do well. I long to succeed at SOMETHING.
My tummy seems to be on the mend again. I made a pot of oatmeal this morning and ate a little of it, and ventured to eat some chicken and rice tonight. We'll see if that turns out to be okay.
I talked to Queenie this morning. Sadly, her doctor thinks she has Long Covid, because she's still so tired, and has brain fog and still no sense of smell or taste. I'm hoping that he's premature in his diagnosis and that she just needs a little more time to recuperate. She called rather early in the morning, and I chalk it up as a minor accomplishment that I managed to put my pants on with one hand while holding the phone in the other. I was trying to get out of my room without waking the Sparrowhawk, but did not succeed. However, he watched the process and says he admires me very much.
This was the day of the unseasonably and amazingly warm weather, with the high at 77. We went for a walk, and later We drank our tea outside in the back yard, and it was delightful. Tomorrow it will probably rain, and the temperature will drop down a bit, but we're still expecting a balmy week of 50s and 60s. None of which precludes a frost or even snow in the next few weeks. This is Michigan!
