Well, that was two days of unexpected misery. Added to the previously recorded symptoms: a headache so crushing that I bounced me out of bed at 4 am. Also, I've had joint pain before, but never before did my JAWS ache so badly. That was just weird. Anyway . . . it's gone now. On the bright side, I won't need another tetanus booster until I'm 80. And that will probably be the last one, because if I live so long as to be 90, I doubt I'll be stepping on nails or cutting myself on rusty farm implements, or any of the things for which one would need a tetanus vaccine. I'd like to believe I won't need any more COVID boosters ever, though that remains to be seen.

I missed out on two activities today. When it was time for the special service for people with milestone anniversaries--50, in our case--I was still in bed. The Sparrowhawk says that when he came to check on me, I moaned "I'm sorrryyyyy." But I have no memory of that. This afternoon, there was a neighborhood gathering on someone's front lawn, but I had to send the indispensable Sparrowhawk to represent the household, because I was still kind of wobbly and definitely antisocial. So I missed out on all the hot gossip about former residents.

Very strange weather lately. Yesterday, before my immune system lost its marbles and ran in circles screaming with its hair on fire, the day dawned misty and foggy. When I looked out the window, I immediately heard my mother's voice quoting Keats--"Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness!" Because she always said that if it was misty in the autumn. Even though it's neither mellow nor fruitful. And then I heard my father quoting Mother Goose--"'Twas a misty, moisty morning." Because that's what he always said. It was supposed to be 80 degrees today, but then it rained and sprinkled, and stalled out at 79. It could still happen tomorrow. 80 degrees in the middle of October? That's supposed to be frost time around here! It ain't right, I tell you. Cats and dogs will be living together next.
