Starting to panic ahead of visitors arriving for Christmas, which must be the most shiniest and wonderful ever, for no particular reason except that I say so. I'm afraid it will never live up to the sparkles in my mind's eye. But I do need to at least get the dust off of MOST things. It's not going well, though. I need to pack up the books I'm parting with to de-stack a corner of the bedroom so I can give it all a thorough vacuuming. So I went out to the garage to get another box to put books in. This box was full of packing peanuts, and as I tried to pour them into a bag that was conveniently lying around for no good reason, some of them spilled. As I was picking them up, I noticed three bags of stuff that had apparently been dragged out of the back of the car and dumped in the garage, and had been lying there for . . . um . . . weeks??? Who knows. One bag contained hand sanitizer and a roll of Lysol wipes, now all dried up because the top had come off long ago and stayed that way. One bag contained some swim shoes, presumably from the trip to the UP. One bag was just a bag of bags that one keeps in the car for shopping. So I took them all back into the house and sorted them out. Then I went up to the attic to bring out some more books. I opened a box that I thought might contain more books for purging, but nooooo. It was full of a big stack of printouts that I will now have to go through to see if there's some reason I was keeping them. I put the lid back on and tiptoed away. It was that kind of day, when one thing just leads to another and pretty soon you are WAY down the rabbit hole. You know, the great thing about John Carter of Mars is that he doesn't seem to have any clutter. The Barsoomians just dig a bunch of underground passages and put all their extra stuff in them, and then forget about it. When someone finds it aeons later, it's all covered in rare gems, or maybe in a box with strange artifacts that do marvelous things when you push the button. There's not a desiccated cleaning wipe to be found on the entire planet, I'll wager. Nor swim shoes either, unless from a VERY distant aeon!

I also had a lively Zoom with Moonmoth and the Nonesuch, always a pleasure.
